Healing Journey — Nagomi Art Healing: Colours of the Present Moment

nagomi-art-healing -Flow With Kindness

Healing is a long and non-linear journey.

Some days, it asks us to look inward.
Some days, it asks us to rest.

And sometimes, healing simply invites us to try something new, be around good people, and enjoy where we are.

Recently, I joined the HCSA community for my very first Nagomi Art Healing experience.

It was also my first time visiting the space, and I didn’t quite know what to expect. Yet the warmth was immediate. The place felt homely and cosy, and everyone was so friendly that it didn’t take long before I felt at ease.

Perhaps healing sometimes begins this simply—with a space where we feel welcomed enough to just be.

When Colours Bring Us Into the Present

I have never considered myself talented at drawing, so I was relieved to discover that Nagomi Art wasn’t about drawing something perfectly.

We worked with soft pastels, gently blending colours and watching our creations slowly come to life.

There was something soothing about the simplicity of it.

Blend. Create. Adjust. Let it unfold.

Somewhere in the process, I stopped wondering whether my artwork was going to be “good”.

I was simply enjoying.

For that little while, my attention rested on the colours beneath my fingers, the picture taking shape and the people around me.

There was nowhere else I needed to be.

What I enjoyed about Nagomi Art Healing wasn’t only the finished artwork. It was how naturally the process brought me into the present moment.

Sometimes, healing happens not because we are trying hard to heal, but because we become fully absorbed in living.

Different Colours, Different Stories

At the end, we placed our creations together.

We had followed the same activity and used similar materials, yet every artwork looked different.

Some were softer. Some bolder. Each carried a little of the person who created it.

And each of us was proud of our own piece.

It reminded me:

We don’t have to become the same in order to belong.

We experience life differently.
We express ourselves differently.
We heal differently.

Our uniqueness doesn’t separate us.
Sometimes, it is what makes being together so beautiful.

When a New Place Feels Like Home

And then came the part I didn’t expect.

I felt so at home that I picked up the microphone and sang Yesterday Once More.

I came for Nagomi Art and somehow ended up doing karaoke as though I were in my own living room.

That spontaneous moment stayed with me.

When we feel welcomed, something in us softens. We laugh more freely, become less self-conscious, and allow ourselves to participate instead of standing at the side.

Connection creates its own kind of magic.

Thank you, Angela, for hosting this beautiful experience, and to the HCSA community for making the afternoon feel so warm, welcoming and full of joy.

Healing Is Not a Straight Line

As someone with a Human Design 3/5 profile, I tend to learn through experience—trying, discovering, reflecting, and understanding what each encounter has to teach me.

Along my healing journey, I have explored different practices and ways of reconnecting with myself. Not everything resonates in the same way, and I don’t believe there is one path that works for everyone.

Healing is personal.

What supports us today may be different from what we need in another season of life.

When I share my healing journey, I am not sharing as someone who has reached the end of it.

I am still walking too.

I explore with curiosity, experience with an open heart, and share what I discover along the way—perhaps something from my journey may gently speak to yours.

A Shared Path Forward

Experiences like this continue to shape how I think about the spaces we create at Flow With Kindness.

Healing can happen through reflection and stillness, but it can also happen through creativity, play, laughter, our senses and meaningful connection.

As Flow Within™ workshops continue to evolve, we hope to weave in more experiences that help us slow down, express, connect and return to the present moment—activities that can feel therapeutic and meaningful, while still being enjoyable and fun.

Closing Reflection

Because healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

Sometimes, we heal while creating.
Sometimes, while laughing.
Sometimes, while sharing a moment with another person.

And sometimes, we only realise afterwards that something within us has softened.

This Nagomi Art Healing experience began with colours, but what stayed with me was something deeper.

Presence. Expression. Joy. Connection.

I arrived curious about trying something new. I left with a piece of art in my hands, a lighter heart, and another reminder that healing can meet us in places we never expected.

Healing is not about becoming a perfect version of ourselves.

Perhaps it is about returning—again and again—to who we are beneath all the noise.

To the parts of us that can still create.
Still laugh.
Still connect.
Still feel joy.

Our colours will be different.
Our stories will be different.
Our healing will unfold differently.

But different paths don’t mean we have to walk alone.

Maybe that is why community matters.

We may each be creating our own piece, in our own colours, at our own pace, but for a moment, we can sit at the same table and create alongside one another.

And sometimes, healing is simply knowing that wherever we are on our journey, there is space for us to belong.
