Because sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is speak about the quiet pain we carry.
A Rising Crisis in Singapore
This week, CNA news dated 19 July 2025 broke that Singapore has seen its highest number of suicide deaths in over two decades — 476 lives lost in 2023.
Most heartbreaking of all:
Males accounted for over 70% of all suicide deaths, continuing a long-standing trend.
The highest increase was among youth aged 10 to 29, with 81 suicides — the highest ever recorded in that age group.
Teenagers, still growing into themselves, are silently struggling.
Adults, who seem composed on the outside, are slowly breaking within.
Behind Every Number Is a Story
Behind every number is a story.
A name. A soul.
And often, someone who was smiling right before they said goodbye.
Understanding Suicide and Depression
Suicide and depression are deeply linked — but not always in ways we can easily see.
Mental health is not just about symptoms.
It’s about how long we’ve felt unseen.
How deep the pain goes when no one notices we’re not okay.
It’s about disconnection — from ourselves, from others, from hope.
And when the weight becomes too much, we lose the language to say,
“Please stay.”
A Message from the Heart
Before we talk about healing, we want to gently share something that’s been resting on our hearts:
“Depression is not a flaw.
It’s not something broken.
It’s unprocessed pain, unhealed wounds, years of carrying something alone.
We don’t need fixing.
We need to feel safe enough… to feel.
To grieve. To rest.
To reclaim the parts we abandoned just to survive.”
Healing Is Not Linear
Healing is not linear.
It doesn’t happen on a timeline.
It’s not about “getting over” something, but softening into it.
It’s letting go of the belief that we must be strong all the time.
It’s learning to hold our wounds with compassion instead of shame.
Real healing is not loud.
It is quiet, messy, tender work.
It’s choosing — slowly, softly — to come back to ourselves.
A Safe Space to Begin
At Flow With Kindness, we believe in stories as safe spaces.
Places where hearts can rest, reconnect, and feel held.
No rush.
No pressure.
No judgment.
You don’t need to be perfect here.
You don’t need to have the words.
You just need to begin…
with kindness.
You Are Not Alone
If you or someone you love is facing thoughts of suicide and depression,
please know:
You are not alone.
There is help. There is hope.
And there are stories still waiting to be lived.
Take a moment to reflect: “Where in my heart am I carrying pain that I’ve been afraid to face? What small act of kindness can I offer myself right now to begin softening that space?”
Love,
Flow With Kindness
