Healing Journey Series — Aroma Oils: Through the Senses (1)

aroma oils - healing journey - Flow With Kindness

In my healing journey, I am still exploring — still learning how many paths can lead us home.

From my previous sharing — A Wounded Healer’s Confession — I opened my heart and promised to speak honestly about my healing journey. Not the polished version. Not the enlightened-after version. But the raw, real, sometimes messy truth of finding my way back to myself.

I kept that promise by walking.

I explored many healing tools, modalities, and approaches. I sat in different spaces, learned different languages of healing, and placed my trust into many hands — including my own. Some experiences felt powerful and transformative. Some were subtle and slow. Some helped me see clearly. Some revealed how deeply I had been avoiding myself.

Each modality carried its own wisdom. Each worked in its own way.

And somewhere along the path, a deeper realisation arrived:

Every healing modality has its own magic — but healing does not deepen through tools alone.

It deepens through surrender.

Through how willing we are to soften. Through how ready we are to meet ourselves without armour. Through how honestly we allow the process to work with us, not against us.

Healing is not about collecting methods. It is about the heart that uses them.

In the coming writings, I will be sharing my personal experiences with the healing methods and modalities that have walked with me on my journey — gently, truthfully, one layer at a time.

And today, I want to begin with one of the most accessible and compassionate companions I’ve found — aroma oils.

Because sometimes, the most profound healing doesn’t come from intensity or complexity. It comes from the simplest companions woven quietly into our everyday life.

For me, one of those companions has been aroma oils.

Healing Is a Lifestyle, Not a Session

These days, my healing no longer looks dramatic. It looks alive.

I start my mornings with movement — gentle exercise, stretching, letting my body wake up in its own rhythm. I seek sunlight like a quiet ritual. I let nature remind me that growth doesn’t rush.

And every day, without fail, I create space for self-care.

Sometimes it’s music — voice pouring out emotions, trembling into song. Sometimes it’s tea time — warm cups, slow sips, a diffuser breathing softly beside me. Sometimes it’s reading, copying a sutra, or simply sitting with myself.

These moments are not only indulgence. They are medicine.

This is how I train myself to slow down. To return to the present. To reconnect with my inner world — the one that was often neglected while I tried so hard to heal everyone else.

Why Aroma Oils Became Part of My Healing

Most of us are not strangers to aroma oils. We see them in shopping centers, on online platforms, and in gift sets. For me, I was drawn to doTERRA because I felt their mission aligns with mine — bringing healing into everyday life in a safe, authentic, and supportive way for both body and mind.

Aroma oils don’t demand effort. They don’t require explanations. They meet you exactly where you are.

A single breath. A subtle shift. A quiet reminder to come back into your body.

They became my gentle anchors — especially on days when surrender felt hard.

The Oils That Hold Me

Here are some of the aroma oils that have become part of my daily rhythm:

🌿 Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing)

Earthy. Grounding. Restorative.

This blend feels like standing barefoot in a forest after rain. It helps calm a restless mind, regulate emotions, and reconnect me with a sense of safety. I use it when I feel overwhelmed or disconnected from myself.

🌹 Rose

Soft. Deep. Heart-opening.

Rose carries the frequency of love — especially self-love. It gently supports emotional healing, grief processing, and compassion. I reach for Rose when my heart feels tender or guarded.

🍊 Bergamot

Light. Uplifting. Comforting.

Bergamot supports emotional balance and lifts heavy moods. It helps release stored tension and encourages optimism. Perfect for days when emotions feel dense but unspoken.

🌸 Geranium

Balancing. Nurturing. Harmonising.

Geranium supports emotional regulation and inner stability. It reminds me that I don’t need to be extreme to be powerful — balance itself is strength.

🪻Lavender

Calming. Familiar. Safe.

Lavender soothes the nervous system, supports rest, and invites softness. I often use it in the evenings or during meditation when my body needs permission to exhale.

🍋 Grapefruit

Bright. Energising. Clearing.

Grapefruit helps release emotional heaviness and supports clarity. It’s especially helpful when I feel stagnant or weighed down by self-doubt.

Weaving Aroma Into Daily Life

One of the things I love most about aroma oils is how seamlessly they blend into everyday living.

• Diffused during quiet mornings or reflective evenings
• Carried in a roller bottle for grounding throughout the day
• Paired with mindfulness practices and breathwork
• Added intentionally into food and drinks
(eg. like lemon in warm water to support detox)
• Used to create a healthy environment
(e.g On Guard for daily protection)

They don’t replace healing, instead they support it.

They gently remind the body and mind that safety is possible.

Healing Is an Act of Surrender

If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this:

Healing is not about doing more. It’s about opening more.

Opening to rest. Opening to simplicity. Opening to being held — even by something as subtle as scent.

Aroma oils won’t heal you on their own. But when paired with presence, intention, and readiness…

They become quiet companions on the path back to yourself.

And sometimes, that is exactly what the wounded healer needs.

To be held. To breathe. To soften.

If this speaks to you, I gently invite you to try. Not to fix yourself. Not to rush healing. But to allow small, everyday companions — like aroma oils — to support you in slowing down and listening inward.

In my healing & wellness workshops, aroma oils have become part of the space I hold for others too. Not as a solution, but as a support. A gentle bridge back into the body, the breath, and the present moment. I’ve witnessed how scent can soften resistance, ground emotions, and help people feel safe enough to meet themselves.

This is only the beginning.

In the coming writings, I will be sharing more types of aroma oils through my lived experience — how they support different emotional and mental states — and I will also be opening up about other healing modalities that have shaped my journey.

If you are walking your own path of healing, stay in touch.
We are learning, unlearning, and remembering — together :)

And slowly, we come home.
